The Ring is by far one of the scariest films I've ever seen. I saw it when I was 15 and I couldn't sleep for 3 days after doing so. And I don't even find the pale creepy girl/pale creepy boy horror film cliche to be creepy. What got to me was how well they utilized the apparition:
1) She was ubiquitous and seemed all-seeing
2) There was an impending feeling of "there's no way to fucking beat this thing"
3) They didn't show how she killed with fright leaving your imagination to fill in the gaps

Not to mention that the noises on TV coming from that film CREEPED ME RIGHT THE FUCK OUT. It's daytime and I'm home alone and I'm getting a little spooked just discussing it. It doesn't help that the TV is on in the background as I'm typing.....

This is awful! the original Japanese version is so much better! Why do they have to cut here to another pointless scene involving an out of control car? Can't the Americans do any thriller without some daft car chase! Ridiculous! it totally breaks the tension of the scene!
