Lake Monster Mysteries: Otters Revealed

Lake Monster Mysteries: Otters Revealed

Uploaded by: DoctorAtlantis
Video Description:
I just read the book "Lake Monster Mysteries: Investigating the World's Most Elusive Creatures" and really enjoyed it. One of the theories in the book is that many people mistake Otters for monsters because of their serpentine look and the way they often cross lakes and rivers in lines. I contacted Otter biologists from all over the world and got confirmation of this behavior. Here is some footage to confirm it, and a plug for Radford and Nickell's book too.

Benjamin Radford? Give a break. He is a typical intellectual prostitute. He reckons the Sandra Mansi photo of Champ is a tree root. What an idiot.

He does think the Mansi photo is a tree root, and makes a compelling case for it. He interviewed Mansi and her description matches his hypothesis. But what I'd like to know is this: What's an "intellectual prostitute?" And what makes one "typical?"

In my opinion his case is far from compelling.
If it was a tree root then Sandra Mansi was a liar cos she said the animal looked around and then dived when it saw a boat approaching.
He spends a very ... ( 2 months ago by DoctorAtlantis)
He spends a very long chapter talking about the photo. Mansi took 1 picture, waited 4 years to do anything with it, ditched the negatives, and has had 30 years in which to get her memories garbled. She said the creature was deaf because it couldn't hear her family. A more likely explanation is that it was a tree root. These things really do rise up out of lakes as they decompose and then sink again. And they really can look like serpents or monsters.
She said that it ... ( 2 months ago by sonofthedestroyer)
She said that it twisted its head and looked in different directions. When it sensed the boat it dived.
No way was it a tree root that was mistaken identity unless she chose to lie about it. May be lie detector test may help.
Hey, remember that ... ( 2 months ago by DoctorAtlantis)
Hey, remember that lying implies intent. It's been 30 years (78 - 08) and it was 4 years after she took the picture that she decided it was strange and took it public. It's more likely that after four years she's misremembering and inflating the significance of an old event, and then over the decades the details change. Memory isn't static, and it certainly isn't infallible. Radford says he thinks she's sincere - but wrong. What's an "intellectual whore?" You didn't answer that.
Intellectual whore? ... ( 2 months ago by sonofthedestroyer)
Intellectual whore? hahahha you came up with whore so good for you. It is directed at those 'scientists' who dont research with an objective mind but rather an agenda which the govt supports and rewards.
Dr Robert Rines (one of the worlds greatest applied scientists) called these 'scientists' cowards.
Well YouTube is ... ( 2 months ago by DoctorAtlantis)
Well YouTube is unforgiving if you mistype. :) I'd dissent with your assessment on two grounds - first, the rewards for writing a skeptical book are inversely proportional to the tolerance for theories which allow for the unlikely. Second, Radford and Nickell are not arm-chair skeptics, shown as they actually go to these lakes and get into them and doing experiments and talk to eyewitnesses. I'm not convinced Rine's epithet fits here. Joe and Ben do the research and try for open minds.
Yeah, he's an idiot ... ( 1 week ago by heatherssss)
Yeah, he's an idiot because he believes that Sandra Mansi, who waited 30 years to show her photo and conveniently trashed the negative for proper analysis, too a picture of a tree root surfacing (which happens frequently) and NOT large dinosaur that has gone undetected for millions of years in a lake. What an idiot (rolls eyes).
