It's nothing important. It's only the FIRST verse of an iconic song, lennons message and intent, that you left out.
"Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky"
Then you're missing the point. It is the concept of heaven and hell - religion - that is the cause of most war and intolerance.
That is why lennon said this song is antireligion. Those are his words.>it was different times when John Lennon wrote it.
We're still at war. How is it different? Look at the cause of the current war. It's religious in nature. So the song is even more pertinent now.
In other words you don't have an intelligent response. That's ok. I understand. You're backed into a corner and have no recourse but to lash out. In his own words lennon said the song is antireligion. For dave to leave out that verse is a bastardization of the song. That's obvious by any defination of the word.
"Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky"
the real reason he didn't sing the 1st or 2nd verse cause he's mormon i'm also mormon and the lyrics goes against our religeon
EXACTLY.
That is what I said in the first place.
Thank you. It's about time someone fessed up to the truth.
And you believe that?
What's more likely - that he skipped the first verse because it is blasphemy to his religion and could alienate him from his culture, family and friends or he skipped it because the third verse is his favorite?
I'm sorry but IMO you don't skip the first verses of an iconic song regardless. The song is antireligion. Lennon said so himself. To remove that part of the message is a bastardization of the song.
Get over this issue. Let him sing what he wants and who really cares why or for what reason. You could pick apart every song that has been sung on that stage and wonder why they didn't sing a certain verse. Let's move on is all I'm trying to say.
God bless David Archuleta.
