News Footage: Car Fatally Drops 30ft into Swamp
Uploaded by: AuntBee09
Video Description:
In Bellevue, Washington on the Saturday morning of February 24, 2007 (called in at 10:31 AM), a passing Metro Bus Supervisor called 911 after seeing a vehicle upside-down in Mercer Slough near the eastbound off-ramp from Bellevue Way to I-90 and I-405 (very close to Lake Washington). The Washington State Patrol, Bellevue Fire, and neighboring Mercer Island Fire responded. The car's top was totally submerged under water, so divers were called in. A young male from Kent was found and pronounced dead at the scene. He would later be identified as 18 year old Mathew Durnwirth. State Patrol says he lost control, bouncing off both sides of the guardrails, before his car flipped and dropped 50 ft to the muddy water below. The King County Medical Examiner was dispatched to investigate further how he died. Two different ramps were closed down during this process.
On the night before (on Friday), a man called 911 around 10:42 PM reporting that he thought he saw a car going a high rate of speed loose control around the same area. A State Patrol was dispatched to the area, but did not find anything. Now, State Patrol is saying that the incidences are related. When the red Honda Civic was pulled out of the water, investigators found an empty vodka bottle, along with multiple empty beer cans. Because of this information, the Washington State Patrol thinks that speed and alcohol led to this accident.

Why do you waste time leaving insulting comments and asking rhetorical questions? What is the point of your comments, if it is not to accept my valid answer?
That's fine to think that there are better events to film than this one; I even agree with you (I'm not making any claims about this video). But, I think if you expressed that in a positive way, our conversation could be more constructive.
I think you misunderstood what I meant: I would like to film a tornado, as any type of extreme weather, because nature is an amazing and powerful thing. I hinted on the latter part of my comment that I would NOT like to film a tornado that causes destruction to homes (and people's lives) because that is very sad. If that happened here, I would be helping those in need, not filming them.
It is a waste of time though. What's the point of this video???
Thank you.
