do you really want that answered? that guy was the outsider. everyone else was beautiful and perfect. hes resentful of this. hence his grimacing. he kills the butterfly (symbol of beauty) and feels good about this and is able to dream peacefully. the little girl is angry he killed the butterfly and poisons his drink, killing him, thus eliminating the ugly, imperfect outsider...a normal human being. the point to the song: chill out. dont let stuff get to you...um...you know. just breathe

Well....yeah. But that was sort of my question. Most artists I've met have political or social meaning behind their work. I was wondering if this video had similar meaning behind it. You need to keep in mind though that a Brit directed the video - it's the daughter of film director Sir Ridley Scott.
So I was wondering if it had some kind of strange meaning to her. That's all. It seriously is the strangest video I've ever seen.

thats actually a misnomer. you are correct BUT America has no respect or artistic talent and freedom. They are more profit driven, hence the cesspool of garbage like Sex Drive and Dude Wheres My Car. French (really, the rest of the world too) filmmakers respect the artist and let them create their vision with bigger budgets, so what comes off as "avante garde" is really the same things american filmmakers want to do. American studios just dont tolerate creativity.

It's not the most bizarre video I have seen. As in bizarre images. Mirwais "Disco Science" is up there and there are hoards of others.

yeah, and unfortunately im surrounded by these people and they make me sick to my stomach. these people who are so focused on money, they are willing to stab their best friend in the throat and sell their dreams just to be on top. i live a very minimalistic lifestyle (dont own an ipod) because i dont need that. i only take what i need and im happy. fortunately most of my friends are the same way. but i work with selfish, greedy douchebags and i cant stand them
