These problems were caused by banks providing lines of credit/mortgages to people never able to pay back the money. See the housewife yapping on the cell phone in the Hummer? That Hummer was bought through a loan that won't be paid back. The big McMansions? Bought with aggressive jumbo ARMs. Nothing to do with politics. It's about overzealous financial companies trying to make phantom bucks. And consumers who don't know about managing household expenses.
