When I was breaking up w/ a boyfriend, this song got me thru. I wish more people knew of Ms. Jones, and didn't think she was Etta James. I love her voice - there's a hint of Nancy Wilson's style in there - don't know who came 1st.

Etta passed in October 2001; I was incorrect in remembering the year of the concert I saw. I thought it was summer of '01, but it was actually mid-June (the second weekend, I think) of 2000, a Saturday afternoon. It was part of a festival. Wonderful memories.

Etta Jones single of Dont Go to Strangers made the Top 40 on the pop charts and #5 on the R&B charts in 1959. Her album, Don't Go to Strangers (1960), sold over a million copies. In 2008 the album was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Her last recording, a tribute to Billie Holiday, was released on the day of her death, October 16, 2001. She had four Grammy nominations, for the Don't Go to Strangers LP, Save Your Love for Me in 1981, My Buddy in 1999 and Lady Day in 2001.
