it's true. ANYONE can write a song. the lyrics aren't terribly insightful or reflective. BUT, arranging the music, using the turnarounds, working modally, use of meter to propel progression, etc., all takes real talent. also, the best musicians learn all those "sophisticated" principles just so they can't return to the simplicity. yes, ANYONE can write a song. but it takes talent to write a GOOD song & pull it off. look at the 3:03 part, kelly is bananas. don't argue with those philistines.

Yes, anyone can write a song, but not everyone can write good songs. The moron claiming to be able to write better songs than the beatles soon scampered when I asked him to show me a single song he has written that he thinks is on par with anything the beatles ever wrote.
It's very easy to sit back and look on certain songs and just say, "oh, that would be easy to write" - It isn't. Writing great songs is not easy unless you're exceptionally talented.

quite true. it also takes talent to translate an okay idea into a really good piece of music. with pieces like this, the depth comes from the simplicity. for what it's worth, mccartney was never the same without lennon; to me, they were just okay. same goes for harrison (whom i think was actually the best pure musician in the group). hell yes it takes talent to do something good. i think people miss that fact because cats like kelly jones appears effortless in his execution

i was never into this kind of music until my friend forced me to go see stereophonics whom i had never of at that time in '05'...i immediately fell in love with stereophonics...they perform so well, and seeing them live is the best. Kelly has the best voice ever...he's a bloody brilliant artist...can't wait for them to come back to brisbane
