Wow. People forget ... ( 1 month ago by dwightfartschrute)
Wow. People forget that before grunge, Seattle was a metal town. These guys, along with early Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Queensryche, Metal Church, etc. started that whole scene with a really heavy vibe.

Don't forget Lou ... ( 4 weeks ago by pumpkinthehead)
Don't forget Lou Reed. Wrote an incredibley influental song about doing heroin. Or Skinny Puppy. Never had a damn album without a song about how much it sucked to be addicted to heroin until Dwayne died from an overdose. There's a big culture to party with hard drugs in rock & roll. Never forget a friend who was touring with some junkies. This guy told him that it wasn't addictive, he'd been doing it for years and never got hooked. It's pretty damned sad.

Don't you think ... ( 3 weeks ago by tamelarry)
Don't you think that the music changed gradually/simultaneously.
I don't think one band is responsible for the change from glam to grunge.
Mother Love Bone ... ( 3 weeks ago by ZombieEaterz)
Mother Love Bone was inspired by Queen, T. Rex, Elton John, Guns N Roses, Kiss and early grunge like Green River etc....but there is no way these guys were grunge.
Andrew Wood said in an interview "Did we have any grunge in the first place? I guess there's still a little grunge in the guitars from the Green River days. We didn't lose any of the grunge we needed, but we may be right in throwing some of the ugly grunge away. It's called stale grunge"
Nirvana played ... ( 3 weeks ago by ZombieEaterz)
Nirvana played grunge before Nevermind, Bleach was grunge and metal. Nevermind sounds more like pop punk to me. The whole "grunge" scene is missused. Alice In Chains were a metal band, Pearl Jam had shades of Zeppelin, Neil Young and Sabbath. Where did the term "grunge" come from? Every seattle scene band I have heard plays completely different music. Kurt Cobain said "All in all, I think we sound like The Knack and the Bay City Rollers being molested by Black Flag and Black Sabbath"

Well believe it, because THIS is the reason why Pearl Jam exists and it rooted from Mother Love Bone and the loss of Andy. Show respect!!

Mother Love Bone: ... ( 4 days ago by mikevenflow)
Mother Love Bone: Apple is the one of most important rock album of the world... with Ten, Badmotorfinger, Dirt, Throwing Copper, Above, etc. I think so that was the time when Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament rules their music then Eddie's come... and PJ had been an Eddie Vedder solo project... It's not problem because from Vitalogy to new PJ albums are very good... just different...
