I already said I ... ( 1 year ago by cdfe3388)
I already said I don't support the IRA. I only said that my opinion favors the cause of Irish unification, and that if Ireland under British rule was always so wonderful for everybody then my family probably wouldn't have left.
But aren't we all (regardless of nationality) guilty of hypocrisy in one form or other. In that regard, this argument is probably good for keeping all of us honest.
And many British ... ( 1 year ago by cdfe3388)
And many British Army casualties in the first war were Irish conscripts from what is now the Republic of Ireland, which was one of their rallying cries when they finally won their independence. In some ways it could be compared to the plight of Ukranians in the Red Army. So that argument can go either way.

"3. Contrary to belief, not one Catholic was ever executed in England for being a Catholic"(????), I suggest you read 'Gods Secret Agents' by Alice Hogge (the narrator of the Gunpowder Plot programme this clip is from) and this will show how wrong you are: innocent Catholics, priests and layman alike, such as Edmund Campion and Margaret Clitheroe, just to give two examples, were executed for their religion, not because they were an agent of Spain, or were planning to help lauch an invasion.

I would be hard ... ( 9 months ago by Leveer13)
I would be hard pressed to feel sorry for the Catholic church. The Catholic Church was known to be trying to destroy England because it rebelled against the Papacy's rule. I don't condone evil acts done to anyone because of their religion. (I am a Witch), but as I said, it would be hard for me to be sympathetic.
