Four white lion cubs are forming part of an extensive white lion breeding program underway at a South African Park. For centuries rumours of mysterious white lions circulated in South Africa. Claims of sightings of the white lion started to surface in 1928. Scattered reports continued but confirmation that these animals were really white did not come until 1975 when a litter containing two white cubs was seen at Timbavati Game Reserve, adjacent to Kruger National Park. Several lions still survive from the original strain, all in captivity, and the breeding of white lions in various zoos around the world must be handled very carefully.

Aww, no! The only way people can make more of these poor precious cubs is through interbreeding. D: How would you like to breed with your sibling just because the both of you had purple eyes or something?
I mean, sure, the creatures are gorgeous....but why exploit their rare beauty? And please, people, don't you dare thumbs down me for this. These beautiful animals don't deserve to be treated like the White Siberian Tigers are.

they r not thru inbreeding u genius...they r a type of lions first found in the wild but with ppl hunting and all their numbers have gone away completely so ppl like them help to raise their numbers..

Um...no. White lions are a mutated form of Kruger Lions in South Africa. Mutated=not found in wild, with exceptions of incredibly rare circumstances. They'd never be able to survive in the wild with their incredibly noticeable coloration. However, their rare and beautiful color is exploited by mating close relatives with one another in order to continue the trend. Please...go read a book or something. Learn to spell before you start sarcastically remarking on my IQ.

It would be stupid to breed more as beautiful as they are. They would never survive in the wild. Why? THEY"RE WHITE if that doesn't give you away when your hunting or being hunted I don't know what does. These cubs are only babies too we don't know if they'll have the same physical attributes of a regualar lion either. Poor babies. They are so cute though. One walks like his has a stick up his bum. How adorable.

he says they can only survive in captivity but the gene has somehow survived for thousands of years without humans imprisoning the animals.
Don't get me wrong, it's great that these unique creatues are being conserved for the future, but I feel this may lead to the novelty being lost.
