MatureBeauty1985: 1) Dizzy Gillespie plays the trumpet with the bell bent up--it's just a regular trumpet.
2) No idea why T-Bone played at that odd angle but the only thing I can see is...easier to see what you're doing?? But from the point of view of playing, I can't see it. I play and it must be awkward, but people get used to all kinds of things and make it work. Have you ever seen Jeff Healey, who plays it on his lap, making the left-hand fingering 'impossible'. Individual approach.

T-Bone Walker helped to usher in Big City and West Coast Blues. His vocals were crisp and sophisticated. He was an international performer. He's on the stage with some of the heavyweights of jazz. I was always amazed how he held and play his Gibson guitar. T-Bone influenced BB King and Chuck Berry.

According tio SRV it gicves a slihgtly different tone, but personally I am wioth you and don;t think it makes a great deal of difference, maybe it was just more comfy for him, its a buig guitar, and my younger sister when she tries to pay mine interstingly alway holds it T Bone style, so maybe it;s just preference? Who knows, but i know it sounds great!
