The Marshmellows are impossible to open. They must be glueing them shut these days. I am very good at crafts and small work of this sort and have only managed to scrape the shit out of the buds and have yet to pry one open....I strongly suggest other earbuds for this modification. 12 bucks down the tube.

I too got the marshmallows and they were glued closed. I got it eventually though by prying with a knife from both sides making sure not to break the plastic. Great mod!!! I wish I hadn't gone with the black now though. It clashes

ok, i dont get it.. why to do so when you can just replace old earphones with new one? is it just because the whire wire, button and small jack?:D dont forget that when you mess up connecting wires with tin to new headphones, they dont have to work properly and they really can sound crappy

This works with the JVC Marshmellows. I bought the silver/white ones from Walmart for 19.99. It was a bit of a pain to take apart, but with a razor blade, and working your way around the edges, it will finally come apart. I also scraped the silver off the back plate so it was nice and white, then used finger nail gloss and made it shiny. Great new fix for $20, don't have shitty old Apple headphones and I still get the microphone/on and off button on my cord!

JVC is the best way to go for replacement since they fit and are easy to take apart. forget, ear gels, ear jams, icaps and all that crap, they cut down on the sound quality. just use this hack, its very simple. i personally would rather save the 80$ to buy the iphone in-ear phones, and not have another pair of ipod earbuds in a drawer not being used!
